Casa Bacardi - Exhibit and Conference
Room
The Exhibit and Conference Room is designated
for featuring artists, photographers, sculptures, and other
types of cultural elements that pertain to Cuba. The room also
doubles as a lecture and conference area for meetings, classes,
and special events held at Casa Bacardi.
Exhibits at Casa Bacardi have included: a Smithsonian
Institution Photograph Exhibit of Cuba in 1902, which featured
original photos of the island taken during the celebration of
the establishment of the republic in May 1902; a Cuban National
Heritage (Herencia Cultural Cubana) exhibit on 19th and 20th
century tobacco labels, lithographs, and box covers; a photography
exhibition documenting contemporary life in Cuba featuring the
work of Cuban-American photojournalist Roy Llera, and other
features.
Many of the other events held in the Conference
Room include: a three class lecture on Cuban cuisine by TV star
Chef Pepin; several book presentations such as "Carta de
Cayo Hueso" and the CD presentation of Velia Yedra; a feature
on the documentary "El Presido - The Trip Back" that
focuses on the prisons and jails in Cuba; and regularly scheduled
lectures and luncheons.

Casa Bacardi is open Monday through Friday
10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
COST: Admission to Casa Bacardi - $5 donation
(UM students/faculty/staff free).
